Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
