Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the most decorated winner. The standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's achievements, its talented actors also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Other notable winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. Worth mentioning, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the public, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by reviewers.
