Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public figures expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making controversial remarks that were widely condemned by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they revealed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser should have acted when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
