Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

These accusations come after an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.

A toddler was caught up in the incident in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

This event – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
